Her mother was Cynthia Louise Bissett vice president of mobile provider Verizon. Joseph Anthony Germanotta Jr. is her father. He's director of a company on the internet and businessman. She was raised in an exclusive Upper East Side neighborhood of Manhattan by the family of a Catholic family. Because of this, her parents were enrolled in at the Convent of the Sacred Heart which is a revered religious institution. She was very fond of music from the time she was a child she learned to play the piano, and when she was thirteen, she composed her first song. She has participated in many open mics. Her most favored artists included David Bowie, Madonna and Queen Michael Jackson. After high school, she enrolled at New York University's Tisch School of Art to pursue a degree in music. Her studies did not go through. education, but she did leave them behind to begin her musical career.
